A bronze statue in the centre of town celebrates the remarkable story of local Aboriginal man Tom Dancey – the 1910 winner of Australia’s most famous foot race, the Stawell Gift.

Located in the River Rail Precinct, it’s the perfect spot to stop, relax and recoup whilst enjoying some history about the members from this wonderful town.
